Why Chalkboard Nomads Exists

Founded by educator Andrew Belzer, Chalkboard Nomads was created from a simple belief: some of the most meaningful professional growth happens when teachers step beyond familiar classrooms and learn alongside educators from different cultures. Through authentic classroom collaboration, cultural exchange, and reflection, participants gain new perspectives that transform both their teaching and their understanding of the world.

Meet Andrew Belzer

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, and shaped by experiences across cultures, I have spent more than a decade exploring how education can connect people, communities, and ideas. Through teaching, international travel, and collaboration with educators in Peru, Ecuador, Uganda, India, and beyond, I discovered that some of the most meaningful professional growth happens when we step outside familiar environments and learn alongside others. That belief ultimately led to the creation of Chalkboard Nomads—a community built on authentic educational exchange, cultural humility, and the idea that great educators never stop learning.

OUR MISSION

Connecting educators across cultures through meaningful learning and authentic partnership.

We believe education has the power to build understanding, strengthen communities, and inspire lifelong learning.

Our Values

These principles guide every partnership, fellowship, and educational experience we create.

  • Educational Exchange: Every participant is both a teacher and a learner, contributing to a meaningful exchange of ideas and practices.

  • Authentic Partnership: We build lasting relationships through mutual respect, collaboration, and shared purpose.

  • Cultural Humility: We approach every community with curiosity and a willingness to learn from local knowledge.

  • Global Citizenship: We believe education has the power to build understanding across cultures and strengthen communities.
